What is the requirement for eligibility of Grants for Military?

The South College Military Grant is available to applicants who satisfy the following criteria and are not receiving full tuition and fee reimbursement through any VA educational benefit or state/federal/institutional/private grant or scholarship program.

  • The first thing you are to do is, starting in the Winter term. Moreover, you can enroll or continue as a South College student at any campus location.
  • Proof of status as an active duty military member or veteran, or military spouse, with an honorable discharge, general–under honorable conditions discharge status, or proof of active duty status (NOBE) OR be a dependent of a veteran who is eligible for VA educational benefits.

All active-duty military members, veterans, their families, and dependent children who receive this Grant are exempt from paying the South College Application Fee.

The institution covers the remaining 50% of the tuition gap, with a Yellow Ribbon scholarship. The total tuition, Yellow Ribbon, as well as Yellow Ribbon scholarship applied to the account, will not exceed the total tuition and fees payable for the term.

Once they reach annual tuition cap, veterans receiving Chapter 33 benefits at the 100% level they will approve for the amount of tuition not covered by Chapter 33 benefits to be covered by Yellow Ribbon and will be paid to the account as 50% of the gap in tuition not covered by Chapter 33.

Air Force Aid Society General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant

This stipend has been available to children of active duty, reserve, retired, and deceased Air Force members for over 20 years. Each year, hundreds of $2,000 awards are distributed.

Briarcliffe College Online Yellow Ribbon Grant

Briarcliffe College offers the Yellow Ribbon Grant to students who are qualified veterans or dependents of eligible soldiers and who also meet the qualifications for special federal benefits for veterans.

Coast Guard Mutual help Supplemental Education Grant

Coast Guard members and their families are eligible to apply for one of these $250 per calendar year awards to aid with college costs, such as CLEP and SAT study guides, but not tuition.

Columbia College Coast Guard Spouse Grant

In addition, through this program, spouses of active duty active-duty members can save 50% on both online and in-person classes.

Columbia College Military Spouse Tuition Grant

Through this program, spouses of active duty active-duty personnel can receive a 20% tuition reduction for in-person undergraduate classes.

Illinois National Guard Grant Program
